The local picture

What City businesses actually look like.

Behind the big institutions, the City is full of small firms: boutique advisory and corporate finance houses, consultancies, legal and recruitment practices, holding companies, and the UK subsidiaries of overseas groups that need a London presence.

Their accounting needs are rarely exotic, but expectations are high. Clean books every month, VAT on international clients handled correctly, payroll that copes with bonuses and benefits, and accounts that stand up when a bank, investor or parent company asks for them.

How local works with us

Our office is at 86–90 Paul Street, EC2A, ten minutes on foot from Moorgate and Liverpool Street. We come to you for onboarding and the meetings that matter, and work in Slack, Teams or email the rest of the time.

Everything runs in Xero, so your numbers are current whether we're in your office or ours.

FAQ

Questions City businesses ask us.

Are you based in the City of London?
We're on Paul Street, EC2A, just north of the City boundary. It's about ten minutes' walk from Moorgate and Liverpool Street and around twenty from St Paul's. For meetings we usually come to you.
Which parts of the City do you cover?
All of EC1 to EC4, including St Paul's, Bank, Moorgate, Barbican, Farringdon, Fleet Street, Cannon Street, Monument, Aldgate and Liverpool Street, as well as the rest of Greater London.
Do you provide bookkeeping only, or full accounts?
Either. Some City clients just want a bookkeeper who reconciles Xero every week; others want bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, statutory accounts and tax in one place. We price each as a fixed monthly fee.
Can you act for the UK subsidiary of an overseas company?
Yes. We keep the UK books, run payroll, file VAT, corporation tax and statutory accounts, and report back to the parent in the format and currency it needs. For group companies in the US, Germany, France or the Netherlands we work with trusted partner firms.
How much does a bookkeeper in the City of London cost with you?
We charge a fixed monthly fee, not hourly. Plans start from £600 a month for bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll for up to 5 people and your confirmation statement. See full pricing.
Are you regulated?
Yes. We're AAT licensed (licence 1001556), an HMRC-registered agent, supervised for anti-money laundering by the AAT, ICO registered (ZA171285) and insured by Hiscox.
